COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

Lean on us. Poet Wallace Rice once said that, "Hope is medicine." And there is no greater source of hope than the support of others. Friends and family can be a great comfort, but they're no substitute for sitting down and talking with others who are in your same situation - whatever that situation may be.

Activities are very diverse, ranging from classes, support groups and reduced-cost blood screenings for the community.

A few of the community education programs we offer are: CPR, Safe Sitter, the Women’s Live, Laugh and Learn Event, and scheduled Reduced-Cost Blood Screenings.

DIABETES EDUCATION
Diabetes Self-Management Education is provided by Wendy Butz, RN, CDE. The education is free of charge and is scheduled on a one-on-one basis. The education is tailored to the needs of the patient, but will cover topics such as:

  • Disease process and treatment plan
  • Exercise and meal planning
  • Oral medications, insulin and insulin administration
  • Monitoring
  • Acute and chronic complications
  • Standards of care

We strive to make diabetic information readily available to the public by offering outpatient diabetic education and a diabetic support group, run by a certified diabetic educator. Up-to-date information is provided to staff, patients, and the community using a variety of resources including textbooks, magazines, video tapes or DVDs, patient and staff television education system, computer based training for our staff, and the internet.

To schedule an appointment, please call 419-468-0645.
