Please reserve July 29, 2009 on your calendar this year --- that’s the date of this year’s Walt Chambers Memorial Golf Outing!

After last year’s amazing success, Linda Chambers, Walt’s wife, her children Steve and Pam, and friends have chosen to honor Walt by making this an annual event, and have designated that proceeds benefit the Cardiac Rehab Unit of Galion Community Hospital.  They have generously agreed to donate their services to the Galion Community Hospital Foundation by coordinating the outing.

Named in memory of Walt Chambers, the event reflects the man himself.  Walt’s love of entertaining his family and friends lives on in the spirit of fun and enjoyment at the Galion Country Club.  Walt was an avid golfer, and delighted to have played at St Andrews and Prestwick in Scotland.  He was also openly appreciative of the services of Galion Community Hospital’s Cardiac Rehab Unit and quickly became friends with the staff and his fellow patients.  When his family reflected on this combination, it was apparent to them that Walt would be pleased to see this event take place.

After last year’s outing, everyone agreed that indeed, Walt Chambers was smiling down on us!  Six major sponsors joined 32 other benefactors and 131 golfers in helping Cardiac Rehab by purchasing two pieces of needed new equipment at a total cost of nearly $10,000.  The winning foursome of John Bowen, Keith Wilhelm, George Naumoff and Jeff Tada have their names prominently displayed on a plaque on the unit at the hospital as the first winners to champion the benefit.

The Chambers Family’s tremendous effort and dedication to this project are genuinely appreciated.  We look forward to hosting another exceptional day of fun while supporting a worthwhile cause. Won’t you join us?
