Radiology diagnoses diseases by obtaining and interpreting medical images. Some images are obtained by using x-rays or radioactive substances, others by means of sound waves or the body’s natural magnetism. A radiologist correlates medical image findings with other examinations and tests, recommends further examinations or treatments, and confers with referring physicians.

The department is under the direction of a Radiologist.

PROGRAM DESIGN The Radiology Department has several different means to diagnose illness. These include:

Mobile Pet/CT PET (Positron Emission Tomography) and CT (Computed Tomography) scans are both standard imaging tools that physicians use to pinpoint disease states in the body. A PET scan demonstrates the biological function of the body before anatomical changes take place, while the CT scan provides information about the body’s anatomy such as size, shape and location. By combining these two scanning technologies, a PET/CT scan enables physicians to more accurately diagnose and identify cancer, heart disease and brain disorders.

Nuclear Medicine A part of molecular imaging, it produces images that reflect biological processes that take place at the cellular and subcellular level.

Ultrasonography Body tissues are examined and traced by beaming high frequency sound waves on an area of interest in the body.

Computer Tomography CT scanning uses x-ray beams and computer technology to produce a cross-section view of the body.

MRI Magnetic Resonance Imaging utilizes a magnetic field and radio signals to get a computerized image of a small section of the body.

The Mammography Center performs mammograms – both diagnostic and yearly screenings for lumps, drainage, breast pain, and follow ups to abnormal mammograms.
The Mammography Center provides local quality care from ACR accredited and MQSA compliant technologist and licensed radiologists. Our facility boasts private, quiet and clean rooms. Appointments at the patient’s convenience.

Pregnancy Women who are pregnant should inform the x-ray technician of this condition so that proper precautions may be taken to protect both the mother and the child.

Patients are referred by an acute hospital unit, a skilled nursing facility, a home health agency or a physician’s office.

Patients are referred back to their own physicians for imaging results.
