orthopedics department

Orthopedics deals with the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system. The practice encompasses fracture care, arthritis, sports injuries, arthroscopic surgery and total joint replacement. We also perform surgery for patients with trauma of the shoulder, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle and foot.

The team is led by three orthopedic surgeons and one sports medicine physician, who are all board certified. X-ray technologists, MRI technologists, medical assistants, administrative personnel, and Galion Community Hospital’s Outpatient Physical Therapy Department, located in the same facility, round out our orthopedic team.

WHO IS TREATED? Diagnoses considered:

  • Fractures
  • Arthritis
  • Sports Injuries
  • Carpal Tunnel
  • Rotator Cuff Tears
  • Meniscus Tears
  • ACL Tears
  • Tendon Ruptures
  • Sprains
  • Tendinitis
  • Epicondylitis

WHY CHOOSE GCH’S ORTHOPEDICS? Our state-of-the-art facility has immediate access to x-ray, MRI, bracing, hand therapy and physical therapy including aquatic therapy. Our physicians have a long-standing reputation for quality care in the community. We also have the only orthopedic surgeon in the area that has been fellowship trained in hand and Upper Extremity Surgery.

We offer:

  • Same week appointments for urgent requests
  • Timely appointments for non-urgent conditions
  • Acceptance of most insurance plans including Worker’s Compensation
  • Occupational Health program
  • Afternoon clinic for athletes with injuries

Although referrals are not necessary, referrals are welcome from health care professionals, as well as from patients and family members.

The staff and patient will complete any forms necessary for treatment either at the time of service or, if time permits, packets will be mailed out in advance. A dedicated staff member will assist patients with surgery scheduling and any paperwork involved with that process.

If a patient does not meet our admission/treatment criteria, recommendations will be made for services that meet the patient’s needs.

Our staff works with the insurance carriers and hospital to ensure coverage for needed services.
