The Pulmonary Services Department is staffed with Registered and Certified Respiratory Therapists. Our therapists are also certified by the State of Ohio to provide quality care to both inpatients and outpatients. The staff is an essential part of the health care team, providing both diagnostics and therapeutics.

Our therapists treat patients of any age, including newborns and the acutely or chronically ill.

Respiratory Therapy is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Therapy includes ventilator support and management and treatment of respiratory diseases. The staff delivering the respiratory do so under the prescription of a physician.

Respiratory Care is the treatment and care of people who have problems associated with their lungs and/or heart. It includes testing, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Other services may include: cooperating and maintaining medical devices which assist the patient’s breathing; administering oxygen and/or medication; chest physiotherapy; and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Pulmonary Function is a diagnostic test that evaluates the flow, volume and total capacity of the lungs. The procedure consists of a series of short breathing maneuvers through a mouthpiece that is attached to a specialized breathing apparatus.
