The Education Department is responsible for staff, patient, and community education. The activities in the department are very diverse, ranging from classes, orientations, and in-services for the employees to support groups, classes, and health fairs for the community.
The goals of the department include: maintaining and improving the knowledge and skills needed by the staff to provide high quality care for our patients and their families, and promoting public awareness and wellness through community education and support.
Staff development programs include: Basic Life Support (CPR), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and many other programs.
CPR, Safe Sitter, Prostate Screening Clinics, Health Expos, and the quarterly Health Fairs are just a few of the community education programs and events we offer.
We strive to make diabetic information more readily available to the public, and we do this by offering Outpatient Diabetic Education and have a Diabetic Support Group.
Up-to-date information is provided to staff, patients, and the community using a variety of resources including: textbooks, magazines, video tapes or DVDs, patient and staff television education system (TipTV, Newborn Channel), computer based training for our staff, and the internet.
